Relay for Life
Molalla River Academy students run and walk in a miniature Relay for Life event they held last Friday, raising awareness about cancer.
Community support is already building for Molalla’s 10th annual Relay for Life June 12-13 to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.Last Thursday, Molalla River Academy students held their own miniature Relay for Life, walking and running laps in the schoolyard, decorating luminaria bags to honor cancer patients and performing skits to educate their fellow students about cancer awareness and prevention.

Oregon’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Susan Castillo announced Monday that Molalla High School is a 2010 Celebrating Student Success Champion — the only high school in the state to receive the honor this year.

A Mulino area home remains standing after a Friday night fire, but the house’s detached garage burned to the ground, destroying a 2007 BMW and other belongings inside and causing heat and smoke damage to some rooms in the house.

Drivers can expect both daytime and nighttime delays on Highway 213 in Mulino next week. During the week of March 8, Oregon Department of Transportation’s contractor will be building a barrier on the Milk Creek Bridge in preparation for construction, working on utilities on Graves Road and installing temporary bridge rails at night.
