A fire broke out early Thursday morning in a Molalla building recently renovated by volunteers, destroying the office of a nonprofit community resource center. From providing food boxes and emergency resources to offering educational classes, Molalla Communities That Care has come alongside many area residents in need, including families who have lost their homes in fires.

As the Molalla River and Milk Creek rose higher and higher on Thursday, some local residents elected to flee their homes for higher ground. By Friday, the floodwaters had begun to recede, although rain is forecasted to continue through the weekend.
