Young cooks crowded the kitchen at Molalla High School on Wednesday morning, concocting healthy snacks for the annual contest among Molalla River School District’s elementary schools.Sodexo, MRSD’s food service provider, has sponsored the competition for three years now, inviting fourth and fifth grade students in all five of the district’s elementary schools to submit recipes, MRSD Nutrition Services Director Teresa Susmilch-Miller said.

Community support is already building for Molalla’s 10th annual Relay for Life June 12-13 to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.Last Thursday, Molalla River Academy students held their own miniature Relay for Life, walking and running laps in the schoolyard, decorating luminaria bags to honor cancer patients and performing skits to educate their fellow students about cancer awareness and prevention.
