Rick D. Hicks
Rick D. Hicks, 51, of Molalla, died on June 27, 2008 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 10 a.m. at Molalla Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from noon to 5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Rick was born to Homer and Shirley Hicks on Dec. 27, 1956 in Oakland, Calif. He graduated from Molalla High School in 1975.
On June 26, 1976 he married Barbara Drum. For more than 20 years Rick owned and operated Rick Hicks Automotive in Molalla.
Most recently he was a realtor in the Molalla area. Rick loved to learn and was always involved with things that made his life interesting.
Rick was a volunteer firefighter in Molalla for 15 years. In his earlier years he was a scuba instructor.
Rick was a very active Molalla Kiwanis Club member since the late 1970s and was president of the club in 2006.
Surviving family members include his wife Barbara Hicks of Molalla; his two daughters, Nonika Myers of Scotts Mills and Sarah Hicks of Molalla; his mother, Shirley Hicks of Canby; his brother John A. Hicks of Canby; and one granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the Doernbecher Childrens Hospital.
Theodore B. Wollam
Theodore B. Wollam, 82, of Molalla, died Monday, June 23, 2008.
He was born Aug. 22, 1925, to John B. and Irene Yettaw Wollam.
He graduated from high school and served as a corporal and tail gunner in the 5th Bomber Division in the Pacific Theater of World War II.
He worked in television, radio and electronics and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ida May; daughters, Linda Wollam-Wright of Gladstone and Kymberly Brewster of Molalla; son, Terry D. of West Linn; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Services have been held. Arrangements by Molalla Funeral Chapel.
Bonnie Ann Hovanic
Bonnie Ann Hovanic died June 13, 2008, in Tacoma Wash., at the age of 39.
She was born in Tacoma on April 28, 1969, and moved to Portland in 1973 and to Molalla in 1979. She attended Butte Creek Grade School and graduated from Molalla High School in 1987. She was a Butte Creek Bobcat cheerleader and played softball and volleyball in high school.
After high school, she returned to Tacoma where she attended Clover Park Technical College and earned a surgical technologist certificate.
For 10 years, she worked at Tacoma General Hospital where she was born and then transferred to Virginia Mason Hospital in Federal Way, Wash.
Survivors include her daughter, Jada; parents, Gaylen and Katie Hovanic; grandmother, Bonnie Jean Ingle; and brothers, Patrick of Wilsonville, Chris of Canby and Steve of Gladstone.
Services have been held.
