Impacts of vote
A river divides them: A series

On Friday, Molalla citizens will start receiving Ballot Measure 3-219.
One initiative appears on the ballot, with the question, “Shall the city of Molalla prohibit discharge of treated or untreated sewage into the Molalla River?”
While it’s the lone question, it is a big one as it could have statewide implications. The following question-and-answer section; however, is about what impacts may happen to the local area.
City Manager Gene Green’s statements are taken from a written statement, which he wrote in regards to some of the questions the Pioneer submitted.
Friends of the Molalla River Tom Derry’s are taken from a phone interview.
Ballots must be turned into Clackamas County Elections by 8 p.m. Sept. 19. They can be mailed or dropped off at the Elections Office at 825 Portland Ave., Gladstone or at the Molalla Public Library.
