Arts and Music Festival - Molalla’s first Arts and Music Festival will be held June 26-28 on Ross Street in downtown Molalla. For more details, see the back page of this week’s paper. Admission is free to the concession and art booths, but there is a $5 admission for the stage entertainment area. For more info, call Like That Productions at 503-759-5372.

 

Chicken barbecue and tractor show - St. James Church (301 Frances St., Molalla) is hosting its annual Chicken Barbecue on Saturday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year there will also be a free antique tractor, gas engine and car show. Blueberry pancake breakfast - The Oregon Pilots Association Mulino Chapter’s 52nd Annual Blueberry Pancake Breakfast at Mulino Airport will be July 18-19 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. $8 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Meal includes blueberry pancakes, ham, eggs, coffee, tea and juice.

 

MHS Class of 1999 - The Molalla High School Class of 1999 will hold its 10-year reunion on July 31 at 6:30 p.m. with a buffet dinner and no-host bar at the Farmstead Restaurant and Pub in Molalla. Cost is $40 per person (one guest per person, ages 21 and over only).A class account has been established with Bank of America. To reserve your spot, deposit $40 per person in the MHS Reunion Account. Mt. Angel Motorcycle Cruise-In - A Motorcycle Cruise-In will be Saturday, July 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in downtown Mt. Angel. Vote for your favorite bikes in 7 categories. Colton Football Camp - The Colton High School coaching staff is running a football camp for students (from any district) grades third through eighth July 27-31 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the CHS football field. $20 Fee includes T-shirt and a barbecue on July 30. Contact Susan Finch at 503 824-2243.

 

Safety Town - Molalla Community School is bringing Safety Town back July 13-16 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. This is a comprehensive safety program for children ages 4-6 years old in the gym at Molalla River Middle School, transformed into a town with buildings, streets, cross walks, stop signs and pedal cars. Guest speakers include a trauma nurse, police officer, firefighter and more. Students learn about pedestrian safety, stranger danger, gun safety, dog and water safety, fire safety, etc. $60 fee (or half-price with a parent volunteer) includes T-shirt and daily snack. VBS - Calvary Mennonite (6711 S. Lone Elder Rd., Aurora) presents Crocodile Dock Vacation Bible School July 13-17 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Kids from preschool thru 5th grade are invited. For more information, call the church office at 503-266-2202.

 

Summer camps for kids - Molalla Community School summer activities still have openings including: Dance Camp, Spanish Camp, Writing Camp, Nature Camp, Fitness Camp, Pod Casting and Video Casting Camp, Crime Lab Camp, and Craft Camp. Pre-School age activities include: Recycled Art Camp, Messy Science Camp, Teddy Bear Picnic and a Pirate Party. Also, music lessons are available. Kiddie Parade registration - Applications now available for participation in the July 2 “Pioneers on Parade” Kiddie Parade in Molalla. Applications available at Country Christian School, Charlie’s Hi-Screen Graphics and Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce. Call Lori McKinley at 503-759-3506 for more info. The parade starts at 6 p.m. on July 2, with entrants gathering at Molalla High School starting at 3:15 p.m. and judging at 4:30 p.m. The parade is organized by the Country Christian Key Club, a youth division of the Molalla Kiwanis Club. Molalla Fire Department sponsors the parade.

 

Hiking tours - Upward Trails guide Karen Graves will lead a hike to Henline Falls this Saturday, June 27. Also enjoy Salmon Falls, Sullivan Falls and Three Pools up the Little North Santiam. Meet at 10 a.m. at BJ’s Coffee shop. Graves will also lead a hike on Sunday to Butte Creek Falls - a scenic, family hike. Meet at BJ’s Coffee at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Recovery program - Celebrate Recovery, a Christian 12-step program dealing with hurts, hang-ups and habits, meets every Friday night from 7-9 p.m. at Foothills Community Church, located at 122 Grange Ave., Molalla. For further info, please call 503-829-5101.

SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS

 

St. Vincent de Paul’s Mobile Kitchen visits Molalla the second and fourth Tuesday and first Wednesday of every month from noon to 2 p.m. at the Foothills Community Church parking lot (122 Grange Ave.). All ages are invited to stop in for a free meal.

 

Clackamas Women’s Services holds drop-in hours on the third Wednesday of every month from 6 to 8 p.m. and on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Foothills Community Church Resource Center (122 Grange, Molalla). VFW Post 3973 of Molalla meets the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Molalla Grange Hall on Grange Street. The VFW will conduct Military Honors at any veteran’s funeral in the local area and a gun salute at the cemetery when requested. They will also accept any American flag for proper retirement. The MOMS Club of Molalla is a chapter of MOMS Club International (Moms Offering Moms Support), a nonprofit network of support groups for stay-at-home moms and working moms who wish to stay active in the community. The club meets at the Molalla Nazarene Church, located on the corner of Hwy 211 and Shirley St, at 9:30 a.m. on the first Friday of every month. Call Shelly at 503-539-6930 for more information.
