Estacada’s Tom Tarbet shows off his summer steelhead.

Our Chinook derby may be over, but the Chinook run just keeps coming in.
Another 275 Chinook have moved up into the Clackamas River Hatchery. Fishermen and women alike are steadily catching them.
We ended our derby on June 15. First place goes to Tommy Marlowe (27pounds, 11 ounces). He also took eighth place (20 pounds, 3 ounces). Second place Dennis Parker (24 pounds, 12 ounces), third place Peter Rigutto (23 pounds, 14 ounces), fourth place Art Renner (23 pounds, 13 ounces), fifth and ninth place Ike Azar (23 pounds, 7 ounces and 19 pounds, 9 ounces), sixth and seventh place Francisco Gonzalez (22pounds, 3 ounces 21 pounds, 8 ounces), 10th place has a tie between Bill Mildfelt and Roger Younc (19 pounds, 5 ounces).
Congratulations to all you guys. Keep in mind we are still weighing in fish everyday. It seems by the weigh-ins that the "June Hogs" are coming up now. Get out there and catch yourself a fresh Salmon dinner.
Summer steelhead are also rising in numbers of returns. The hatchery now has 378 returned. Tom Tarbet, from the Estacada area, brought in this beautiful summer steelhead. Tom was fishing the Clackamas River using a jig when he hooked and landed this 12-pound, 4-ounce summer. Nice fish Tom, you'll enjoy that!
Trout fishing has also been very hot. The water temperatures are about 56 degrees, so whether you are fishing below a bobber or off the bottom, people are catching trout.
If you like using the "Power baits" orange or chartreuse seem to be hot colors. If you prefer worms, have no fear they are also working well. Trout stocking for the week of June 26 is as follows: Trillium Lake 2,000. Not much of a stocking this week, but don't worry, they stocked heavy last week and will stock heavy again next week.
Please welcome Tammy Macdonald of the Estacada area to our shop. She will be filling in while Jason is out in the ocean fishing for tuna with his grandfather.
Have a wonderful week, Be safe, FISH ON.
