The Molalla girls tennis team opened their season, hosting the Westside Christian Eagles on a blustery afternoon last Thursday. Despite some key wins at the top spots in singles and doubles, the Eagles escaped with a 6-2 win.

Though they dropped three of the four, all three losses were battles.Cascade 5, Molalla 3The Molalla Indians dug themselves out of a 3-0 hole to knot the game back up at 3-3 in the fourth inning, but the host Cascade Cougars (1-0) scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the fourth and added an insurance run in the fifth to hand the Indians (0-1) a loss in their season opener Monday evening.

It took a few games, but the Molalla bats heated up against Banks Saturday as the Indians blew out the Braves 11-0. Of course, they didn’t really need the bats to work, as the Banks pitching staff struggled to find the plate.
