The Westside Christian Eagles held off a late charge from the host Country Christian Cougars in non-league action Tuesday night to win 45-42. Country Christian took an early 4-0 lead, holding the Eagles scoreless for the first four-and-a-half minutes of the game, before Troy Jun was able to get Westside Christian on the board.

Country Christian girls coach Russ Halverson called his team’s defense relentless. The Horizon Christian-Hood River team would probably agree.The Cougars’ full-court press gave the Hawks fits Saturday night, holding Horizon Christian (2-5) to zero points in the first half while using the press.

It was a long week for the Country Christian Cougars boys basketball team, as they opened league play hosting C.S. Lewis Academy and St. Paul, before hosting four teams in the Cougar Classic.
