After 40 years as an Oregon School Activities Association league, the Capital Conference has been dissolved. The league had been made up of the Molalla Indians, Cascade Cougars, North Marion Huskies, Stayton Eagles, Estacada Rangers, Gladstone Gladiators and La Salle Falcons since 2006-2007, when OSAA reclassified schools from four classifications into six.

Forty-five professional bull riders will join Ross Coleman at the Molalla Buckeroo grounds Aug. 6-7 for the sixth annual Ross Coleman Invitational.The event, which started as a community fundraiser to raise money to help Coleman's best friend Jack Peterkin win his battle against cancer, has become one of the premier stops on the Professional Bull Riding Touring Pro Division.

Colton's Austin Collins is the seventh fastest 800 meter runner in the nation in the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics young men's division. Collins finished seventh in the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics Nationals meet in Sacramento over the weekend, clocking in at a personal best time of 1 minute, 54.
