With only six career firefighter/paramedics on staff, including the chief, Molalla Fire District relies heavily on volunteer manpower.Last year, volunteers donated 25,000 hours to the district, MFD Chief Vince Stafford said. MFD held their annual awards banquet at The Farmstead Restaurant and Pub last Saturday to thank the volunteers for their service.

Community support is already building for Molalla’s 10th annual Relay for Life June 12-13 to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.Last Thursday, Molalla River Academy students held their own miniature Relay for Life, walking and running laps in the schoolyard, decorating luminaria bags to honor cancer patients and performing skits to educate their fellow students about cancer awareness and prevention.

Drivers can expect both daytime and nighttime delays on Highway 213 in Mulino next week. During the week of March 8, Oregon Department of Transportation’s contractor will be building a barrier on the Milk Creek Bridge in preparation for construction, working on utilities on Graves Road and installing temporary bridge rails at night.
