Council votes 6-1 on adopting comp plan

published: 3/11/2010 12:49:52 AM

Molalla City Council voted 6-1 Wednesday to adopt the new comprehensive plan, Urban Reserve Area, development code and accompanying documents. Before they become official, the documents will require a second reading at the council’s next meeting.Councilor Jim Needham was the only member to vote against the ordinances. He supplied a written explanation for his decision, citing non-compliance with the state’s Goal One citizen involvement mandates, “significant improprieties in the development code” discovered late in the process, concerns on how the document will be interpreted, potential for creating financial and legal obstacles for the development of new business or development and a belief that the plan fails to represent the interests of all the city’s stakeholders.
