Colton's Clayton Burtis won his first state wrestling title at the OSAA State Championships Feb. 25-28 in the 189-pound weight class when he defeated No. 2 seeded Ricky Balentine of Waldport by a 6-5 decision. Burtis took down each opponent by fall until he reached Balentine in the finals. Against Alex Chase of Gold Beach in the semi-finals Burtis got the pin a mere 38 seconds into the match.

The Country Christian girls basketball team will make the trip to Baker for the 1A State Championship and go against the 2009 1A runner-up and No. 1 seed Imbler Panthers March 3.

The Molalla Indians wrestling team sent a small but experienced group of wrestlers to the OSAA State Championships Feb. 25-28 made up of four time district champion, one time state champion and two time state runner-up Brady Lee, two time district champion and two time state runner-up Adam Hayner and three time district champion Jake Marshall.

The Molalla Indians boys basketball team won their final game of the season against the Cascade Cougars 76-64 Feb. 23. The win did not matter as far as league standings go but after a tough season a win against the Capital No.
