Clyde’s 76 Gas Station, 96880 S. Highway 211, has been sold to Ryan and Cheryllann Rodgers. The couple took the keys on Dec. 31 and renamed it Clyde’s and Bob’s Union Service 76 Station in honor of the previous owners, Clyde Musky, and then his longtime employee, Bob Nolz and his family.
“Back in, maybe, 2018,” Rogers said, “I remember stopping by and talking with Bob (Nolz) about when he was ready to sell to let me know.”
Since Nolz passed away in 2019, his family had been running the gas station. Rogers said on one of his stops to fill his vehicle with fuel, he made the comment again – about selling. A few months later he got a call and after meetings with the family to discuss the sale, they came to an agreement. Rogers said it took a few months to get the finances in line and then the process of the purchase began.
“We are busy remodeling the inside of the station and will be offering a small affordable grocery store, hot deli and an inside version of the Colton Cook Shack,” Rogers said.
Rogers said they are working with OLCC in order to stock and sell wine and beer and hoping to add a beer cave in the near future. They are also in the process of filing the paperwork to be part of the SNAP program and to be able to offer lottery ticket sales.
“The bays in the station are being modified,” Rogers added. “The first bay will be part of the grocery area and the second bay, for now, will be used for delivery and storage.”
Rogers said his biggest surprise so far has been all the licensing that is required, but as that is being finalized, the family is already excited for the next steps.
As of now the gas station is being run by the Rogers’ family. Oldest son Travis, and Ryan, are pumping gas, setting up the computer programs for sales and orders and helping on the remodel. Cheryllann is organizing and getting ready for food setup and, when not in school, teenagers Eddie and Della Rae are busy around the property helping in any way they can. The station currently has one additional employee, but Rogers says he hopes, in the future, to be able to offer three more jobs to community members.
“The customer rapport here at Clyde’s and Bob’s has always been great,” he said. “We will be continuing in that tradition. We want it to remain a small, hometown business, keeping the history and friendly, reliable customer service that has always been offered as part of doing business with Clyde and Bob.”
For now, the station is open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., Rogers say when the store is open, they plan to be open from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m.
